Week 07 Cartographic Data

Lab Context

In the second installment of inspecting the foundations of print cartography, we will be exploring data portals in search of layers we need for our project. After struggling with the limitations of data, we then encounter the limits of styling our map layers in GIS layout frames.

Please ensure to visit the new Lab Guidelines tab on the course gitbook, and review the brief 10 minute activity we will be doing before lab starts.

Clancy and I have also put together a Print Cartography Concept Map for each of the modules moving forward. This is intended to be a general guide should you need to reference where we are at in the class, and why we are doing something.

Below, do a brief 5 minute skim of the lab instructions, and decide which pathway you want to pursue. This will be the model for the rest of the semester.
